Britain allowed filming in the secretary’s office
Synopsis
In the midst of an international crisis, Kate Wyler, a career diplomat, takes a high-profile job she isn’t suited for, with tectonic consequences for her marriage and political future. Producers convinced the American and British governments to allow them to use real-life sets as filming locations for the series, including the still-new American Embassy (Nine Elms), which opened in 2018.
The only place not available was Winfield House, the royal residence of the American ambassador
Foreign Affairs, the honor is rarely given to any film or film production, especially an American one. Although it is accurately described as occupying the largest residential plot (11 acres) in London other than Buckingham Palace, the producers used a country house outside the city for filming purposes.
Absolutely top notch production and acting
Presented at the 75th Primetime Emmy Awards (2024). The script is smart and interesting, engaging and well-paced.
The character development is very solid and the players aren’t simple caricatures
Time and time again, a character seems one-dimensional at first, but then the story develops and is actually much more complex than it first appears. My only complaint is that some of the “romance” stories are so clumsy and out of place that they’re inconsistent and exciting.
Someone decided to sweeten the show a bit and it doesn’t improve the result
Professional situations that suddenly, as if out of nowhere, turn into “I’m just a girl standing in front of a boy”.
